Podcasting: A New Technology...Teaching
Elephants to Talk Tip Blogging is sooo 2004! The newest craze sweeping the political communications community is called “podcasting.” Podcasting is essentially a form of broadcasting using the web. Candidates create audio files that can be downloaded directly to a computer -- and then played on an iPod or other digital audio player. Donnie Fowler (son of former DNC chairman Don Fowler, one-time Wesley Clark campaign manager, chief of John Kerry's Michigan campaign, and current candidate for DNC chairman) has been the first politician to fully embrace this technology. Here’s how it works: Fowler will encourage grassroots Democrats to email him questions. Then, in what he calls “FireWire Chats,” he will use this new technology to answer their questions.
